Jockey of Artemision, Photographic prints
$170.00
The Jockey of Artemision is a rare surviving original bronze statue from Ancient Greece of a young boy riding a racehorse, dated to around 150–140 BC. Most bronzes that early were melted down in plunder. I was in awe of it, as I walked around it in Athens.
It was bigger than life and an entire room was dedicated to its importance. I thought this angle of my photo best introduced you to the horse and rider communication. I love his little spurs. It is larger than life at the National Archaeological Museum, Athens.
